Norman Brooks

World War II

During World War II, Norman Brooks served his country as a member of the United States Army.  He entered the service in June 1943 and attended Basic Artillery training at Camp Roberts, CA.  Norman volunteered for training with the 10th Mountain Division located at Camp Hale, CO.  He trained to ski and learned mountain survival.  He went to Camp Swift in TX and then departed Hampton Roads, VA and  landed in Naples on December 1945.  Assigned to the 85th Regiment of the 10th Mountain Division, their objective was to take mountain after mountain away from German control in the North Apennines to the Po Valley including Riva Ridge Mountain, Belvedere Mountain and Gorgolesco.If you have any biographical data, information or pictures regarding the service of this veteran, please contact us using the "Add Info" button below.
